Itinerary
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will greet you and transfer you to your hotel in a private tourist vehicle. Once you're settled at the hotel, we will schedule a trip briefing at the hotel lobby or restaurant.
After breakfast, you’ll leave Kathmandu and travel 205 kilometers by tourist bus to the scenic Pokhara Valley, the starting point of the Mohare Danda and Khopra Trek. The journey takes 7 to 8 hours and offers views of terraced fields, small villages, and mountain ranges including Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and Lamjung Himal.
Upon arrival in Pokhara, you can either relax at your hotel or explore the vibrant Lakeside area, known for its shops, restaurants, and bars. For a quicker option, we can arrange a 25-minute direct flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara at an additional cost, giving you more time to enjoy the valley.
After breakfast, you’ll drive from Pokhara to Galeshwor in a private jeep—the starting point of your Mohare Danda and Khopra Community Trek. Before beginning the hike, you may visit the Galeshwor Lord Shiva Temple, considered one of the 15 holiest pilgrimage sites according to the Srimad Bhagwat Maha Purana.
The trek begins after crossing a suspension bridge over the Kaligandaki River, continuing through terraced fields and forest to reach Bans Kharka. After a 2–3 hour hike, you'll arrive at a picturesque Magar village, where you can spend the rest of the day exploring and experiencing local culture.
Today’s trek ascends through forested trails and terraced farmland. After about 3 hours, you’ll reach the small settlement of Danda Kateri, where you’ll stop for lunch and enjoy panoramic views of the Kaligandaki Valley. From there, a gentle walk leads to Nangi Village, where you'll stay overnight in a homestay or community lodge.
This eco-lodge experience showcases how local communities collaborate for sustainable development by leveraging local resources. You’ll see examples like Himanchal High School, a model community-based institution. You’ll also learn how locals make handmade paper from Lokta plants, explore a medicinal herb nursery, and observe other community-run income-generating projects.
After a hearty breakfast at the Nangi homestay, the trail ascends through lush forests filled with oak, rhododendron, and bamboo, offering stunning views of snow-capped peaks, including Mt. Dhaulagiri (8,167m). The trek to Mohare Danda takes 6 to 7 hours and, while challenging, is rich in natural beauty.
From the summit of Mohare Danda, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the Himalayas, including Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South, Nilgiri, and Dhaulagiri. Along the way, you may spot yaks grazing in the Kharka (pastureland). At Mohare Danda, the main destination for the day, you’ll witness breathtaking sunrise and sunset views from your accommodation.
After watching a beautiful sunrise over Mohare Danda and enjoying breakfast, your trek continues toward Ghorepani. The trail initially follows a flat section before descending into a forested area, then ascends steadily along a rugged path to reach Ghorepani. The route winds through open grasslands and rhododendron forests, with a mix of uphill, downhill, and level stretches.
Along the way, you'll be treated to stunning views of dense forests, dramatic southern landscapes, and sweeping vistas of the Himalayas—especially during sunrise and sunset.
Early in the morning, you'll hike up to Poon Hill for a stunning sunrise view over the Himalayas, including Mt. Dhaulagiri and Mt. Annapurna. After taking in the breathtaking panorama of mountains and terraced fields, you'll return to Ghorepani for breakfast.
The trek then descends through a beautiful forest of rhododendron, oak, and pine. After a three-hour descent and crossing a wooden bridge over a small river, you'll continue onward to Swanta.
After breakfast in Swanta, you'll begin your trek through a scenic forest, passing local schoolchildren along the way. A steady uphill climb leads to Khopra Ridge, known for its rich biodiversity. Keep an eye out for Himalayan tahr and Danfe pheasants. The best approach is to pace yourself with gradual, consistent steps and take breaks as needed.
You will be rewarded for your effort when you arrive at Khopra with a magnificent vista of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, and Nilgiri. Enjoy this vantage point's sunset vista.
Today is both rewarding and demanding. You'll reach Khayer Lake—the highest point of the Mohare and Khopra Danda Trek—at 4,660 meters above sea level. The journey is challenging, requiring nearly ten hours of trekking to reach the lake and return to Khopra Ridge.
Located at the base of Annapurna South, Khayer Lake is a sacred site for both Buddhists and Hindus. Bathing in its waters and visiting the Khayer Barahi Temple are believed to help one attain Nirvana. From the lake valley, you'll enjoy stunning views of Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, and Nilgiri.
The trail from Khopra Danda to Dobato offers stunning scenery as it winds through oak and rhododendron forests. If you're trekking in early spring or late autumn, be prepared for possible snowfall. This 10.8 km stretch is a lesser-known route that takes you deep into the Annapurna region, offering a more off-the-beaten-path experience.
The descent takes about 5 to 6 hours. Dobato, at 3,420 meters, is one of the best places to witness sunrise over Mount Dhaulagiri. Along the way, you’ll pass through the charming villages of Chistibang and Bayeli.
After breakfast in Dobato, you’ll begin your trek to Ghandruk Village. The trail includes several ascents and descents through valleys, dense forests, and scattered settlements. You’ll stop for lunch at Tadapani, where you can enjoy panoramic views of Annapurna (8,091m), Machhapuchhre (6,997m), and Hiunchuli (6,441m).
After lunch, the trail descends steadily to Ghandruk. This scenic village offers stunning views of Annapurna, Gangapurna, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), and other nearby peaks. Once checked into your guesthouse, you can explore the village. If time allows, visit the local museum to learn more about the culture of the Gurung people.
On the final day of your Mohare Danda Khopra Trek, you’ll leave Ghandruk and follow the Modi Khola river toward Nayapul, passing through Kimche. After a brief rest in Nayapul, you'll drive back to Pokhara via Lumle village. If you arrive early, you can explore local attractions such as Devi’s Fall, the World Peace Pagoda, or the Mountaineering Museum. A relaxing boat ride on Phewa Lake is another great way to unwind.
After a hearty breakfast at your Pokhara hotel, you’ll travel back to Kathmandu by tourist bus—a journey of 7 to 8 hours depending on traffic. Along the way, enjoy views of bustling markets, scenic landscapes, and vibrant villages. Once in Kathmandu, take the evening to relax, explore, or reflect on your trek. In the evening, we’ll share a farewell dinner to celebrate the successful completion of your Mohare Danda and Khopra Trek. If you prefer, a 25–30 minute domestic flight to Kathmandu is available for an additional cost.
We typically arrange your airport transfer three hours before departure. If you have extra time, we can organize optional side trips, or you’re free to explore on your own.
