After a relaxed breakfast, you'll take a tourist bus to Pokhara, a journey of 7 to 8 hours. Pokhara Valley serves as the gateway to the Kapuche Glacier Lake Trek. Along the way, you'll pass scenic waterfalls and enjoy views of the Trishuli and Marsyangdi Rivers flowing through lush, rocky terrain.
For added convenience, we can arrange a direct flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara (25 minutes) for an additional cost, allowing you more time to explore the valley.
Pokhara is home to several beautiful lakes, including Phewa, Begnas, Rupa, Dipang, Maidi, Khaste, Gunde, and Nyureni. From the valley, you'll also enjoy stunning views of the Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, and Lamjung Himal ranges.
Today, you will travel from Pokhara to Sikles, covering about 40 kilometers of off-road terrain in a 4WD jeep, a journey that takes 3 to 4 hours. Along the Sikles Kapuche Lake Trek route, you’ll pass charming villages such as Taprang, Chipli Gaun, and Khilang, with scenic views of mountains and lush hills welcoming you along the way.
Located at 1,980 meters above sea level, Sikles is a beautiful Gurung village known for its rich culture and traditional architecture. Upon arrival, you'll be captivated by its cultural charm and the warm hospitality of the locals.
You can learn more about Buddhism and the Bon religion by visiting the Eco-Museum and Chili Kohinbo Temple. For panoramic views of the village and the surrounding landscapes, you can hike to the Sikles lookout tower. Alternatively, a 30-minute trek to Sikles Park and Rising Dada offers stunning vistas of Annapurna II, Lamjung Himal, and nearby peaks.
Today marks the beginning of your trek to Kapuche Lake. After breakfast, you'll start your ascent toward Hugu via stone steps and forest trails. As you leave Sikles behind, you'll be greeted with clear views of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal.
The trail narrows along the hillside, offering an exciting walk with a visit to the beautiful Edi Jharna waterfall along the descent. You'll then climb a steep stone path, crossing several small rivers and bridges before reaching the remote village of Hugu.
The journey from Sikles to Hugu is a scenic one, with dense forests, riverside trails, and lush greenery—but note that there are no villages or rest stops along this stretch.

After spending time enjoying the scenery and taking photos, you’ll return to Hugu village, then retrace your steps back to Sikles. The return journey is quicker and less demanding than the ascent.
After a short village walk in the morning, you’ll have breakfast and begin your return journey to Pokhara, marking the end of your Kapuche Lake trek. Upon checking out, your hosts in Sikles will bid you farewell with a traditional tika on your forehead.
The 3-hour drive back to Pokhara offers one last chance to enjoy the scenic ride. If time allows, take advantage of the opportunity to explore the beautiful city. Popular activities include kayaking, boating, or a relaxing walk along the lakeshore. In the evening, a stroll by Phewa Lake—especially when the lights reflect off the water—offers a peaceful and unforgettable experience.
After enjoying a hearty breakfast at your hotel in Pokhara, you'll head back to Kathmandu by tourist bus—a journey that typically takes 7 to 8 hours, depending on traffic. Along the way, admire scenic views of local markets, rolling landscapes, and vibrant villages from your window.
Spend your evening in Kathmandu relaxing, exploring nearby areas, and reflecting on your trek. To celebrate the successful completion of your Sikles Kapuche Lake Trek, we’ll share a farewell dinner together.
If you prefer a quicker return, a 25–30 minute domestic flight to Kathmandu is available at an additional cost.

Useful Information for Sikles Kapuche Lake Trek
Best Time for the Sikles Kapuche Lake Trek
Weather is a key factor when planning a trek in Nepal’s Annapurna region. Nepal experiences four distinct seasons, each offering unique trekking conditions. While treks happen year-round, spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the most popular seasons. During these times, the skies are clear, rainfall is minimal, and the scenery is at its best. Although trekking is possible year-round, spring and autumn are favored for their stable weather and stunning views. Temperatures vary depending on altitude and time of day.
Meals on the Sikles Kapuche Lake Trek
Maintaining a nutritious, balanced diet is essential for trekking. While meal options during the trek are fewer than in Kathmandu or Pokhara, they are readily available in lodges and villages along the route. Breakfast typically includes porridge, eggs, potatoes, and toast. Lunch and dinner options feature Nepali dishes like dal bhat (lentil soup, rice, and vegetables), fried noodles, rice, dumplings, and occasional Western dishes. As you ascend, menu choices become more limited. We advise avoiding fatty foods, alcohol, and caffeine at high altitudes. Instead, opt for hydrating drinks like green tea, ginger tea, or hot lemon water.
Accommodation on the Sikles Kapuche Lake Trek
Accommodations range from standard hotels in Pokhara to basic lodges in remote villages. In Pokhara, expect private rooms with en-suite bathrooms, Western-style toilets, Wi-Fi, and electric outlets. In rural areas, amenities are simpler and facilities like showers and heating blankets are often unavailable. We carefully select the best available lodges for your comfort. Solo trekkers are provided with private rooms when available.
Difficulty Level of the Sikles Kapuche Lake Trek
The Kapuche Glacier Lake Trek is considered easy to moderate and is suitable for all age groups. The trek stays below 3,000 meters in altitude, making it ideal for beginners. Expect to walk 4–5 hours daily over 2 to 7 days, with altitude gains of 300 to 600 meters per day, minimizing the risk of altitude sickness. A basic level of fitness is sufficient to complete this trek.
Travel Insurance for the Sikles Kapuche Lake Trek
Though the risk of altitude sickness is low, travel insurance is mandatory due to the potential for accidents, illnesses, floods, landslides, or sudden weather changes. Your insurance must cover medical expenses, emergency evacuation, and high-altitude helicopter rescue. While we can recommend insurers based on client experiences, we do not sell insurance. After booking, please provide a copy of your insurance policy for emergency use.
Altitude Sickness and Prevention
Although the Kapuche Lake Trek remains at relatively low altitudes, it’s important to stay hydrated, eat well, rest adequately, and avoid alcohol and tobacco to prevent altitude sickness. Gradual acclimatization and following your guide’s advice are essential. Carry necessary medications as a precaution.
